Meet “Milo” - he is the sweetest, biggest-hearted gelding you will ever meet! Always greeting you with a ready to please, “can-do” attitude, Milo, is perfect for a 14-18 Youth or Ammy Rider looking for a fun show partner. He really loves his people - so if you are looking for one that is people-oriented horse, he is the one!
Milo is one of those rare true all around horses - the one that wins both in the English and the western classes with ease. He is GORGEOUS to watch - whether he is loping, long trotting, or jogging - hes got the rhythm and cadence to catch the eye of any onlooker. Under saddle he has a ton of stay and is the type you have to push a little for the long trot as he naturally just wants to go slow. When you do get that long trot it is ground covering, soft, sweepy, and mesmerizing to watch him float around the ring. For the western, he is currently riding around in a shank bit, easy to navigate one handed - though having only recently graduated from the snaffle he still needs guidance from his rider.
On the ground, Milo is a natural in the showmanship - he knows all of the maneuvers very well and is at the point where he just needs time and more patterns to really lock in each element. He is soft on the chain, and with you every stride as he wants to get it right. He is super trainable and retains what he learns each time you work with him whether it be riding or on the ground. Lots and lots of try with this guy - he keeps trying until you let him know he got it right and then he locks it in. He also has great stall manners, easy to handle and work around… and he is super CLEAN in his stall. He loads and hauls - however has not been hauled a whole ton… which leads me to his biggest fault: he is so closed to a finished show horse in many ways, but yet still very green in some respects - main thing being he has been hauled to some shows (just to ride around, he is still maiden) but not a lot, which means he has not really seen the world and all of the weird things the world can offer…. he settled in decently well, rode in the warm up pens, and napped most of the time but some things do still catch his eye and he jumps/plants his feet and freezes to take it in, then he gets back to work. Therefore, it will take some more haul miles, exposure, and confidence boosting before he really fully settles into being a true seasoned show horse…. and frankly, he is totally worth the time (you will see what a mean if you watch his sale video!)
Milo clips without a twitch, even for his ears. He stands patiently for bathing and grooming/saddling. No Maintenance. He is currently shod with front shoes as he has been in regular work to protect from chipping - and they are just plain aluminum shoes, nothing fancy. No vices and a joy to have around the farm.
